Stop Barking Dogs

By: Mason Harding

Dog barking problems plague dog owners everywhere. How to make a dog stop barking is an aim with some dog owners. Dogs should only bark when there is danger or for protection. Getting them to do this requires dog barking control training.
Dogs use their voice to communicate with us. Their voice is their bark. So training not to talk (bark) or dog barking control must be realistic. There are times and situations where they will bark because that is how they are made.
What is the reason dogs bark?
Briefly, dogs bark because of who they are and how they are bred. Dogs like Rottweillers, Dobermans, and German Shepherds who are trained to guard, bark to let you know of danger. Beagles and Bloodhounds bay when the scent their quarry so help out their owners. Small dogs, like our Miniature Schnauzer, like to hear their own voices so talk a lot.
Ignoring specific breed barking habits, however, there are certain circumstances where just about any dog will bark:
He's bored.
He's hungry.
He's lonely.
He needs a potty break.
Your dog senses another animal.
Your dog is telling you "let's go play".
He feels something is amiss.
If your dog is barking for any of the above items, you don't really have a dog barking problem. He is performing as dogs are bred and trained to perform.
However, there are situations where they don't need to be barking. Here dog barking training will be invaluable.
If you're dog barks to try to manipulate, or bully you into doing something, you'll definitely want to put a stop to that. If she has you trained to react when she wants to play, guess what? She'll continue to do that until you become the boss. The best way to do this is to ignore her. Not it a passive way, where you don't pay any attention to her, but in an active way. There's a real art to this, and you can learn to do it in the dog training course described at the end of this article.
So maybe he is not trying to control you, maybe he just likes to hear himself speak. Here is a good place to control him with hand gestures, not hitting him of course. The method is kind and is set up again to let him know who is in charge. There is not enough space to explain this type of dog barking training, but if you click on the link below you can learn how.
