Some Ways to Learn Covert Hypnosis

By: John Hubert

Covert hypnosis is the ability to subtly communicate with someone whilst planting subconscious suggestions during the course of the conversation. Commonly known as 'conversational hypnosis', this form of communication technique is widely used by politicians, salesmen, charismatic leaders, advertisers and just about anyone that seems to hold sway over others.

Hypnosis has only really started to gain wider acceptance within the scientific community in recent years. Scientists and researchers alike are beginning to understand some of the real powers behind
covert hypnosis, powers such as the ability to make people behave in a certain manner without them realizing it. Let's say for example that you met someone and you wanted them to disclose to you your phone number. You'd use techniques of indirectness and misdirection, forms of reverse psychology within hypnotism in order to send subliminal thoughts into the person's mind that they wanted to give you their number.

The person, without being aware, would conjure a thought of 'I really want to give this person my phone number' even though they can't really explain why. You're basically playing upon their natural subconscious instincts and reactions. Of course if you learn covert hypnosis, or any form of hypnosis for that manner, it's important to understand that the techniques taught are only to be put to good use, for the advantage of other people, not just for yourself. Hypnosis is a means of allowing individuals to feel better about themselves, and a means of helping them, you should never learn covert hypnosis for your own personal gain.

Now in terms of meeting that random stranger who's phone number you want, the trick is to be as subtle as possible. You may even plant certain words and phrases within the conversation such as 'perhaps you wouldn't mind...' and then a few sentences later say something such as 'yes a phone is a good idea' and then in another sentence 'that's the right number yes, what a good idea'. You're subconsciously reinforcing to the person that the word 'phone' and 'number' are both good ideas, and anchoring it to the phrase 'perhaps you wouldn't mind'. You could use this phrase again when you believe the person has the suggestions of phone and number within their subconscious. If successful, you should be able to trigger a positive reaction from the individual, causing them to give you their phone number. This is a great form of covert hypnosis and if executed well, should give great results.

So whether you want to learn covert hypnosis for your own use, or if you plan on teaching it to others, remember that subtlety , like in all forms of hypnosis, is important. The moment that the conscious mind picks up a suggestion, the suggestion can be critically analyzed, and the subconscious is less likely to act upon it. Remember discreetness is your main friend, so use it to your advantage so that the other person can't tell what you're doing.
