Racial Bias and Media

By: Andrew Schwartz

Our researches should study a lot of questions, such as racial and political bias in the sphere of media, stop on the problem concerning political interference into publishing using greater power. And one more type of bias, the gender one, should be touched. Also, it s necessary to give some conclusions and decide whether news takes the first place in our today life, satisfy the requirements of all people of the world, and is it really important such point as gender, race, age and political interests.
But now we are going just to discuss the first problem in media, the racial differences and its consequences. It is very important to be aware of the fact that media has great number of biases due to the reason of large variety of people. The public cognitive paradigm propose that media representations can influence observer opinions by enlarging a cognitive connection between an exacting group and a certain role, as simple example we can take Afro Americans as a group, and the criminal role.
Because of to main research, the establishment of a stereotype enlarges the possibility that such information will be used in succeeding conclusions. Taking into the consideration the ideas of social cognition experts who have proposed this model, our stereotypes have cognitive formation or categories that influence the programming and processing of information. In order to be more exactly, we should say that such kind of information should be concrete information of the groups to which the observer does not belong. It should be clear that when we use a great number of cognitive information to the out-groups it makes more obvious the fact that this very information would be used in future in all its meaning.
According to all mentioned above we can say that, the description of racial groups in the functions, that are generally qualified to them by society, contributes to creation of fixed bias and prejudice for large groups of people. It is not really important the fact that fortunately or not media is, but media fails to offer an objective outline of what is actually going on in our world.
