Is There a Natural Cure for Snoring?

By: LISA DAVIES

It's true that if you snore, you can see your doctor or dentist and be fitted with an uncomfortable mouthpiece or have any number of surgeries to help correct the situation. However, before you do any of that, is there a natural cure for snoring that can help get you through? There actually are, and we'll discuss some of those here.

One of the most natural cures for snoring and one that you can do at any time is to keep yourself hydrated. When your skin and throat are dry you are more likely to snore. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is one of the best things you can do for your health overall, and it could prove helpful for your snoring.

Another natural cure for snoring that also helps to keep you hydrated is to put a humidifier or vaporizer in your bedroom. The extra moisture in the air helps keep your throat hydrated as well. If you live in a dry climate you need to do this all year, but others should keep this in mind during the winter months especially.

When choosing a vaporizer for your bedroom, you may also consider using some menthol or eucalyptus oil as well. Many vaporizers allow you to add this to a small reservoir so that it evaporates in the air. This is a very effective but natural cure for snoring. It works by keeping the sinus passages open and allows you to breathe through the nose rather than your mouth. It also helps to coat your throat and mouth.

Marjoram is another natural cure for snoring. This comes in a jar which you keep by your bedside and open at night. The natural scent fills the room and also keeps your nasal passages open.

When seeking a natural cure for snoring, don't forget throat sprays, inhalers, and syrups. These are typically available at your local pharmacy and many contain only natural products. They too coat the throat and keep it moist. They are also preferred by many as a natural cure for snoring because they don't bother anyone else in the room who may not like the smell of marjoram or menthol. Many find it helpful to keep these products by the bedside, as they may wear off during the night and you might need to have a second dosage. Of course you need to check the package directions, but these usually work very well.
