Silver Dollar City's National Kids Fest is a must on your next family outing. It takes place every summer from early June to mid August. The 2008 National Kids Fest event is June 7th to August 10th, and it is decidedly flavored with old fashioned flair. You'll find loads of fabulous things you remember doing as kids, all re-invented on the streets of the main Square by way of giant games of checkers and tic tac toe, Lincoln

Tip: Hula hoops and ice cream are a perfect summer combo and can be found at Hanna's Ice Cream Parlor - and take this tip to the bank: this is a cool and shady spot to get cover from the hot sun under nearby umbrellas. When planning your day, make sure to note that the Square holds fun activities throughout the day, including a marching band where kids get little instruments and march around the Square, a water balloon toss where you could really get wet , and a banana split eating contest.

For all those science loving kids, you'll want to put Kids' Concoctions on your “to do” list. Head for the Carousel Barn and play, mix and dabble to your heart's content, including Play Foam, Wikki Stix, Stampers, Magnetos and Do-A-Dots, plus other fun things like Gooey Gunk where kids can make their own Goo in any color they like. Girls really love the station where you can make your own lip gloss, sugar scrub sundae, spa bubbles, or shimmer lotion.
