Creative Scrapbooking - How to Get Started

Creative scrapbooking is defined as creating original and imaginative ideas for your scrapbooking projects. However, coming up with ideas can be difficult. If using your creativity and talent is not giving you the results you want, there are some very helpful tips you can use to move forward with your scrapbook creations.

WHERE TO GET IDEAS

1. A good way to get ideas for your scrapbooks is to look at scrapbooks that belong to other people. This can give you ideas for layouts and themes that you might want to use. Customize what they use to fit your layout plans. You can also swap ideas with other scrapbookers who are trying to find ideas for their own scrapbooking projects.

2. Another good idea is to go to the library and check out craft books and magazines. There are dozens to choose from, giving you a huge source of ideas. In fact, you will probably be overwhelmed by all of the possibilities available for your scrapbook. Make sure you also check out the craft books in the children section.

3. Visit your local craft store. They will have enough materials, kits, and ideas to get your imagination and creativity running into high gear. You will also probably discover additional ways to create a scrapbook that you had not considered before.

4. Another great idea to find creative scrapbooking ideas is to get out your photo albums and go through your own pictures. Are there photos from special occasions that you would like to commemorate? You will be surprised with the ideas you can come up with for layouts.

Once you have ideas for layouts, write them down. Even if an idea seems a little outrageous or odd, write all of your ideas down on paper. This will make it much easier for you to come up with themes you might want to use for your layouts.

If you have materials at home to work with, spread them all out on the floor or table and take a good look at them. By seeing exactly what you have, you may not have to make that trip to the craft store and it will be easier for you to come up with ideas for layouts.

Let your imagination run wild. Use colors and shapes that you would not normally use. The most important rule of creative scrapbooking is to have fun. There is no wrong way and there is no right way. Do what YOU want to do and run with it.
