By: Peter Wilson..

Are you planning a visit to the beautiful Costa Blanca in Spain? There are many cities along the Costa Blanca so you?ll want to plan your time here wisely. Each city has its own unique sights and attributes. To start with, get a good Costa Blanca map so you can determine location and distances between the points of interest. Here is a brief overview of the cities along this coast.

Northern Cities

Denia is the northernmost city in this region on the map of Spain and has an amazing panorama of sea and mountains. There are many activities for the water sports enthusiast as well as other attractions including a castle, a toy museum and tons of shopping along the Calle de Marques de Campo. Denia is not just a tourist destination so you?ll get a real fee for the rich Spanish culture.

For something a bit more quiet head to Benissa which offers kilometers of quiet coastline. There are many coves and beaches that are only accessible on foot so you?re likely to have a stretch of sand to yourself. There are sights to visit in town including old churches and historic homes. This city is known for its octopus stew so make sure you don?t miss out on this culinary delight.

Altea has a bit more to offer in the way of sights including the must see Nuestra Senora del Consuelo church. It is a landmark of this city and has a stunning blue dome. The mountain area near this city has amazing views of the city as well as the coast. Like other cities on Costa Blanca there is no shortage of sun and fun with five kilometers of coast and beach.

Southern Cities

You?ll probably arrive or end up in the city of Alicante which is home to the Costa Blanca?s airport and most transportation options. Alicante is a large city but don?t let this put you off. There are many things to see and do including museums, shopping and sunning on the large beach.

For some quiet head to Villajoyosa located south of Benidorm. This city is famous for its chocolate and Valor is a well known brand. There is an older part of the city which is postcard perfect with its brightly colored buildings with the shore as its backdrop. If you?d like to do a bit of gaming, The Royal Palm Casino is located here and is a popular break from the sun. There is also a popular parade held here in the end of July that celebrates the defeat of the Moorish army.

For more authenticity and fewer tourists head to the southernmost city of Torrevieja. This city is known for its salt production. You can enjoy a salt bath or explore the bustling harbor and fish market.
