Whenever we step outside our front door these days we feel we are being judged, even if we aren't. With that in mind most of us put quite a bit of time and effort into our personal grooming. A big part of our personal image is our hair and because of this, most of us spend quite a bit of money on hair care products of one sort or another.

For most women, certainly, hair care is usually a pretty big deal. Be honest now ladies, don't you just love to style and re-style your hair? And doesn't that just make you very grateful for the huge number of hair care supplies that are now available? There are probably more different types of products available for looking after, styling and coloring the hair now than at any other time in history. Your local salon or drugstore will no doubt confirm that last statement.

Whatever hair styling product you're looking for - hair spray, mousse gel etc. - you're unlikely to have any trouble locating a huge variety. And it's not just women who have a super abundance of hair care products to choose from, a mini industry has grown up around men's hair care too.

I have a husband who has short and spiky hair that he likes to spike up with hair wax. This type of product can certainly make your hair do just about anything you want it too. I guess he's like the majority of men in that he doesn't feel the need for a huge range of hair care products, just one or two satisfy his needs. I, on the other hand, am probably a typical woman who buys a large range of 'essential' hair care products, plus a few more, just in case.

The modern array of hair care supplies doesn't merely stop with goos and gunks. Professional hairdryers and hair straighteners are becoming more and more popular to have in the home. For both myself and my teenage daughter, I can tell you that our hair is the most time consuming of our daily beauty rituals. My husband says that if he didn't live with us he just wouldn't believe how long it takes for a woman to do her hair.

Then there's straightening it. Do you have wavy or curly hair? Then the chances are you want to straighten it on occasion. It must be a girl thing. The variety of hair straighteners on the market today make it easy for girls with all lengths of hair.
